June 25 Worship Gathering

What's happening on June 25?

On June 25, join us as we conclude our study through the Gospel of Mark. For our worship gathering, we'll have a short time of teaching then break into small groups for a community share! This is an opportunity for us to reflect on the text and share with one another.

Community Share Guidelines

  • Pray first!
  • To start, pick a facilitator at your table.
  • We have 30 min for sharing in small groups. Facilitators, please keep time. We want everyone to have an equal opportunity to share. Each person should take about 5-6 min.
  • No one is forced to share. This is an invitation and encouragement to share; it is not a requirement.
  • Facilitators, help start the conversation by asking for a volunteer. Please be willing to go first if needed and model humility, vulnerability, faith, etc.
  • Remember to leave around 5-7 minutes to take communion and close your time together.

Questions

  • Connect: Briefly introduce yourselves: your name, how long you have been a part of ENCS, what part of Seattle do you live in, and currently what are you doing?
  • Celebrate: We spent 2 years approaching Jesus’ identity from several angles: The Prophet, the Exorcist, the Lord of the Sabbath, the Unconventional Conquering King, etc. Which aspect of his identity has impacted you the most and how?
  • Celebrate: How has studying who Jesus is transformed our community? (Think of those around you and the growth you have seen. Comment on someone else’s growth)
  • Grow: Complete this sentence: When our church family acts on our convictions in the Resurrected Jesus, we will… (What will it look like if we live out our faith?)
    • What could you do differently to help us live out that vision?
  • Pray: Take a moment and pray for each other over the area of growth that you want to see.

Communion

To close our Mark study, we are going to celebrate what Jesus has done through his body and blood to secure us forever as forgiven and adopted children of God, who can now live in light of the Resurrection.
  • Choose someone to lead the communion time.
  • Have someone read the text: I Corinthians 11:23-26
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.”
25 In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
  • The leader will pray a short prayer of thanksgiving for Jesus’ death and resurrection, and then lead the group to partake of the bread together.
    • The Leader will say: At this time, everyone please open the portion of the bread. This is The Body of Christ given for you.
    • The Group will respond: Thanks be to God!
    • The Leader: Let’s partake of the bread together.
  • After partaking of the bread, the leader will lead the group to partake of the cup together.
    • The Leader will say: At this time, please open the other portion of the cup. This is the Blood of Christ poured out for you.
    • The Group will respond: Thanks be to God!
    • The Leader: Let’s partake of the cup together.
    • Prayer: (Have someone from the group pray the final prayer)
Heavenly Father, We thank you for feeding us with the spiritual food of the most precious Body and Blood of your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; and for assuring us that we are children of God and heirs of your eternal Kingdom.
And now, Father, send us out in the power of the Holy Spirit to do the work you have given us to do, to love and serve you as faithful witnesses of Christ our Lord. To You, be honor and glory, now and for ever. Amen.

This will conclude our gathering. Please join us next week as we begin our new study on Joy and bring a friend. God bless you and have a great week.

Can I join virtually?

We will only broadcast the first part of our gathering (worship & short teaching). If you are unable to join us in-person, we encourage you to still be a part of Community Share - share with those you live with or invite others into your home.
