Discipleship at ENCS
When we use the term “discipleship†our definition is based on Mark 1:17, where Jesus invited his first disciples to come together to follow Him, be transformed by Him, and get on mission with Him. This invitation included relationship with Jesus and one another, and it resulted in a process of spiritual growth and transformation. Jesus did not call the disciples to walk alone nor did he give a linear step by step process. Instead He shared his life, he shared the truth, and he taught them new habits while calling them to walk together. Jesus worked hard to establish them in foundations of the faith, and He actively equipped and empowered them to go and make disciples of every nation.
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you become fishers of men.†-Mark 1:17
At ENCS, we are joining Jesus in his invitation to discipleship and his mission to multiply disciples. We do this by providing opportunities for people to follow Him and grow as disciples together through a variety of means. Discipleship is a growth journey. Though it is not a linear process, it is helpful to provide people with next steps and opportunities to come together to follow Him and be transformed. Therefore we’d like to invite you:
- If you are new here we invite you to an upcoming Newcomers’ Reception where you will hear our story, our mission and values, meet our staff, and learn more about opportunities to take a next step.
- If you are in need of some help getting started in your faith journey or connecting at ENCS, let us buy you a coffee, hear more about your story, and help you take a next step to get connected.
- If you have never studied the foundations of the Christian faith we invite you to get more info about joining a 6-week Foundations small group.
- If you are ready to get to know others who meet for discipleship regularly in your area or on Sunday morning we invite you to try a community group or a ministry team.
- If you call this church home we invite you to learn more about how to use your strengths and gifts to serve here.
- Lastly we believe the church exist to honor God and multiply disciples so we invite those who are ready to take the next step and learn more about how to engage in servant leadership here that reflects your strengths, gifts, and maturity.
