Strongholds
What is a stronghold?
A spiritual stronghold is an area of our soul where we are in bondage [a slave, bound up, tied to, stuck] to something that does not reflect God (shame, fear, pride, lust, etc.). It can be a collection of thoughts, beliefs, attitudes, and/or values that are opposed to God’s love and truth, which lead to bad fruit in our lives.
We are told in Ephesians 4:27 not to give the devil a ‘foothold’ (any ground) in our lives. Yet we can do so through: believing lies, sinful responses to injustices, sinful choices and behaviors, experiencing trauma, generational patterns, and more.
